May 3rd, 2008
An unexpected but welcome gift. Eldoren Consulting's work at Lake View Credit Union was recently submitted to the Marketing Association Of Credit Union's annual Awards in Marketing Excellence (AIME). This past week we were notified that we had indeed won an award and will be attending Whistler, BC ( The Fairmont Chateau Whistler ) to attend the MACU conference and AIME award gala dinner. Needless to say we are excited, blown away, nervous and most of all...humbled by this experience. More details to come!

The Eldoren Team is currently working on a number of sites and marketing projects. We are building websites for some vending companies, a coffee shop / restaurant, an automotive dealer and an events centre. On the marketing plan side of things, we have been getting lots of work lately developing marketing plans and large website roll outs. Rather than spend a big chunk of money and hope they get the right website, our management team sits down and develops a well thought out, written plan to help clients meet their short and long term goals.
Another area we have been busy in is corporate logo / brand development. Since the early 1990's we have developed brands and identity for companies in 20 different industries. These include healthcare, finance, building trades, social and youth oriented projects, "green" sustainability projects and more.
What Are We Reading Right Now? - The FOUR HOUR WORK WEEK by Tim Ferriss. Very interesting book...highly recommend!
Our Multimedia services have attracted lots of interest as well lately. We developed a number of digital presentations with partner Jeremy MacDonald for the Lake View Credit Union. Our project work included project planning / storyboarding, assembly of assets and copy, followed up with Flash programming, SWF to Video and the DVD ( Using Adobe Encore DVD.
When we are not building sites, multimedia or marketing plans, I have been busy painting acrylics and watercolors. Recently I was interviewed for a documentary that will be aired on StarChoice satellite and video was shot of many of my new paintings.
Digital Photography - This past 4 months we have been hired by a number of clients to photograph products and locations for web sites and printed brochures. We provide both the photography services as well as the editing and final output. Contact us today for additional information.

Wow....its been a while since we updated! Business this past few months has been insane. So here's a quick recap of what we have been up to at ECI.
In February 2008, the City of Dawson Creek will be hosting the Northern BC Winter Games. Eldoren's design team was approached to develop a new website that reflected this great event. This site includes information on volunteering, results (once the games are underway) and much more. Keep an eye on this site as it will be updated regularly.
We are very close to launching Lawrence Meat's new website. This site will provide information on their many products and services as well as the career opportunities they offer to individuals around the globe. This site was a fun one from a design perspective as I love steak and working with pictures of food all day made it an awesome experience.
Over the past few years we have worked closely with pipeline / construction company Horseman Energy. They recently changed thir name and acquired with some Alberta based companies to form the new company Pipeworx. Again on this project we are close to launching the new site for them in early January 2008.

This is an example of a recent corporate logo we developed for the consulting firm Ethix Consulting.
One website that the Eldoren Team developed in the past month was the Backflow Testing site. Managed by two friend of ours (Gary Frost and Bob Bigelow), this business operates out of Prince George BC and provides a very valuable service. Ever had problems with sewer or water backup? This can cost businesses thousands. Now imagine a restaurant, dental clinic or pretty much any business that can't afford to have this happen and you can appreciate these guys. The website was great to design and we expect a number of upgrades to the site in the coming weeks.
On a completely different note - I am reading some cool books right now. One is called Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die by Chip Heath (Author), Dan Heath (Author). I just getting into it but its definitely on my list of great books.
Neat Magazines - I have been buying a couple of magazines lately that really keep my creative juices going. One is Imagine FX (dedicated to digital fantasy artwork) and the other is 2D Artist Magazine ( a digital magazine loaded with awesome tutorials and examples. I have linked the graphics to the left...worth looking at.
Well where does the time go? This past 2 months we have been very active working on a number of projects including the Child Development Center website in Fort St John, as well as a new site for Whitetail Oilfield Rentals.
We have also been very active working with a new partner, Digital West. Jeremy McDonald (CEO of Digital West) has brought many of his skills and programming / IT background to joint projects that we are working on. We have also bolstered our team of Advanced Flash programmers in the past month.
Our creative team (lead by Gordon Currie) has been busy working with the new Corel Painter X. This program is absolutely amazing. The effects and high level of detail that one can paint digitally has to be seen to be appreciated.
One area that we are promoting more and more is the wide range of services we offer. Many see us simply as a web development / graphics team. But the reality is that we provide so much more. Here are some services we provide clients that we have had a great deal of success with:

Innovation Central - Much of the work we do at Eldoren Consulting is focused on the Internet and Web Technology. Whether we market a website or build it from the ground up, we find unique approaches and innovative directions on a regular basis. Over the past 20+ years we have experiemented and always broke new ground. We study business and innovation around the globe. And from our research comes advice and concepts that are worth thousands. What we find is not everyone can afford to pay for a full blown consulting contract. In some cases they simply need just a few ideas to get them started. These ideas might range from a few simple tips on improving their search rankings or making their web site more efficient. Design Update - Over the past few weeks we have also been working closely with mySeniorSite.ca and working on developing a new brand / identity for their business. mySeniorSite is a large website located on Vancouver Island that caters to 55 & Better seniors. This site provides a wealth of information and our the owner (Tom Armet) is really dedicated to making this site the #1 portal for seniors.
The new logo reflects the vibrancy and energy that 55+ adults have. The blues and orange are complementary colors that supported the sail design. Sweeping angles and color help represent this site.
Our team is currently developing a few new sites that focus on the oil and gas industry, as well as some social organizations focused on youth and children.

We recently were partnered with Locher Consulting to develop a new corporate logo and masthead for letterhead used by the Fort St John Employment Information Source project. The design below represents the concept of man/woman reaching out to the information provided by the Employment Information Source.
Eldoren Design has developed corporate logos and brands for over 12 years. We trained under master logo developer Philip Andrews of Philip Andrews Design. The logo development process starts with a brainstorming session with the clients that then works into the graphic side. We typically will flush through 20-100 primary ideas and gradually refine till we get what best works for the client. Logos are then provided digitally and on CD to the clients. They include full color/ BW versions, typefaces/fonts used as well as a logo design guide for printers. Prices typically start around $1000 and move up to as much as $5000 depending on the processes used.
For many businesses, the right logo or "mark" is critical to your success and to being taken seriously by funders, investors, the public and partners. If the logo design looks cheap, it sends an aweful, unprofessional message to the public...screaming you don't care about your own business. Happy New Year to everyone! Hope you all had a great holiday and enjoyed getting together with family. We were very busy over the past number of weeks and are excited about positive directions in 2007
In the mid fall we purchased a WACOM tablet (9x12) for creative work and man are we pleased. Drawing digitally with a pen has helped us with designing site mockups as well as assembling site architectures. In addition to that we have started working with Corel Painter IX a great deal (in conjunction with Adobe Photoshop) and are producing some incredible concept artwork.
What does 2007 bring? Well we are working both on a number of smaller projects and some new ones. Our work really has grown from just web design and development to digital photography, advanced marketing services and business development. A sister company (Pacific Logix Inc) is busy launching some new startups and some very creative projects.
We have finished our work with ArabianHorseplanet.com and encourage everyone to check out the videos on their website. The horses are magnificent and incredible to watch.
Current projects include some Flash work developing virtuals tours for a client in the financial sector as well as one in tourism. We are also delving into some real estate sites in the near future. So watch for more updates.

Today we launched the new Lake View Credit Union Web Site! This is the first stage of a site that will be growing every few weeks over the coming months. Site areas include Investments, Loans and Mortgages, the various branches (Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Tumbler Ridge)and information on their special products like the Lake View Savings Certificate. We are currently providing marketing services and the web site was one of those projects.
Also launched last week was the NEW District of Hudson's Hope website. This site is packed with information on the community including detailed information on all events, the people of Hudsons Hope, all services and business. Work is underway daily on updates and new content for the Arabian Horseplanet.com website.

Here is a sneak peek at a new site in development for Jocks Restoration. I have watched this company grow over the years and they are really expanding. They now offer HazMat cleanup and piles of other services. And being that I come from a Scottish background (family from Elgin and Lossiemouth, Scotland) it was of course and honor to work on this. We expect to have this site up very soon so check back often.
October will keep our team busy. We have a bunch of cool projects we are working on with a number of clients. Also doing alot of marketing work with Lake View Credit Union. Also have some neat projects underway with friend and business associate Michael Penner (MJ Penner Consulting). And in those few moments before dawn when we have some spare time...I have been busy playing F.E.A.R and PREY to keep my wits about me. Game fans will know what I am talking about.

Here is a sneak peek at a new site in development for Hammer Hobbies from Fort St John. Through our sister company Pacific Logix Inc, we are partnered with Hammer Hobbies and have developed a great relationship. This image is shot of the home page and this site will be fully developed in the coming 2 weeks. We are working extra long and hard on this as we have the Christmas season coming up. And its a blast to work on!

Just a quick update! We have been very busy working on a variety of projects including marketing materials for a large Credit Union, ongoing marketing for the Arabian Horseplanet web project, a new site for Jocks Restoration. Also building a cool new site for our partner company (Pacific Logix Inc), Hammer Hobbies.
We are also working very closely with US partner MJ Penner Consulting. Michael works with a number of clients from his office in Visalia, California and we work great together. We have some great upcoming projects and work on some very innovative business plans.
Lastly, I thought it might be cool to mention a few facts and behind the scenes stuff the clients might not be aware of. Sort of "did you know...." stuff about our creative team. I will start with myself...here is some background:
- I read about 60-70 magazines a month cover to cover
- I regularly shoot over 1200 photographs a month with my high resolution Nikon DSLR.
- I currently have a large collection of books on building full size custom treehouses
- Over the past 7 years I have raced cars competively (Drag Racing - NHRA, IHRA
- I fly radio controlled planes, helicopters and trucks and have built over 100 scale models
- I am writing a book on 150 innovative marketing techniques that I have pioneered over the past 15+ years - to be published by Trafford House Publishing in 2007.
- I paint acrylic, watercolor and airbrush artwork. My prints and original paintings are in collections around North America.
- We (The Eldoren Team) monitor trends and innovative developments around Europe on a weekly basis.

Where does the time go...over the past two months we have worked on a variety of projects. They have included daily updates to the Arabian HorsePlanet website (graphic below), as well as a new site for the DC Wireless Hotspot (wireless Internet - a joint project between the Peace Region Internet Society and Tourism Dawson Creek), the new District of Hudsons Hope website, and a number of posters for the Lake View Credit Union.
The posters we created for the Dawson Creek Airshow and the upcoming Fall Fair Rodeo. These posters were 11 x 17 and were created to promote a contest for the client. We do alot of work like this now in full high resolution color.
In July, we attended the BC Scale Masters Event - the Best Radio Controlled Scale Model Aircraft in BC - in Vernon, BC. Hosted by the Vernon R/C Aero Modelers. We were there both in the capacity as sponsors ( our sister company Klass Kote sponsored the event) and also as Digital Photographers. We shot over 900 images and then provided custom Galleries, and posters. Everything 
was shot at high res and then custom edited. Yesterday, we were pleased to hear that the Canadian publication FRCC - Fying Radio Controlled Canada (a magazine dedicated to the R/C hobby) was going to use one of our images for the cover of their next issue of the magazine. Very cool!
Back a couple of months ago we announced our new company (Pacific Logix Inc). Aimed at the hobby market, we relaunched the site to promote the hobby products this company is selling. Check out the site and let us know what you think!
